The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) in Central Java raided a factory in Kebasen, Banyumas, on Tuesday that was allegedly producing jamu (herbal medicines) containing chemical components. The agency confiscated over 10,000 capsules and tablets, as well as jamu ingredients and machinery, from the scene. "The thousands of capsules and tablets that were confiscated were ready for distribution. We will gather data on the types of jamu and drugs in detail, one by one," Central Java BPOM head Endang Pujiwati told the media on Tuesday. The BPOM seized four machines used to make packaging and jamu during the raid on the factory, which had been operating for around a year in Adisana village. BPOM staff seized two truckloads of jamu raw materials that were destined to be mixed with pharmaceutical drugs in the form of powder and capsules.
